NEW Replacement Mobylette Carburettors

Mobylette Replacement Carburettor

NEW Replacement Gurtner AR2 Carburetors are now available so why struggle with cleaning out 50 years of crud!

Many Mobylette Engines were fitted with a BA10 or AR2 Gurtner Carburettor. The BA was common on early models and then later models had the AR2 as standard. Higher performance models had the H14 Carb, but we will not concern ourselves with those for the moment.
The BA 10 Carburetor had a clip at the top to hold the airbox in place and if anyone has tried to obtain a replacement airbox then you will agree that they are as rare as hens teeth. The last one I bought cost me £28. As this airbox was superseded by the AR2 carburettur, many people changed to the AR2 type as it was easier to get parts and offered slightly better performance. I have heard of other carburettors being used, but not of anything being as successful as the AR2.
The AR2 Carburettor also had numbers such as AR2-212 and 667, etc stamped inside it. It was easily identifiable with the clip that went around the whole body of the carburettor.

A replacement for the original Gurtner AR2 is now available. An aftermarket part which includes the complete unit excluding the inlet sleeve, as you will need to reuse the one from your exiting carburettor. Please do not use gasket sealer on the inlet as this may cause serious problems to the engine!

Classic Moped Spares tries to supply good quality parts at reasonable prices. A selection of Carburettor's have been tested on Mobylette engines to see that they are compatible with the engine and classic moped spares (and original) cables. I am pleased to say that the tests proved good and a you tube video should also be available shortly. One customer said the engine sounded like a sewing machine!

Moped Parts Now Back in Stock

More Parts at Classic Moped Spares arriving daily

I am pleased to say that Back now in stock is the replacement ignition coil for the Mobylette and Motobecane Mopeds. This coil fits many models from the sixties and is now available to buy from www.classicmopedspares.com. There are also many new products coming soon:-

These coils really do look the part and are a replacement part for the original Novi PB 125440 Ignition Coil. It is also useful to have a good spark when sorting out electrical issues on the Mobylette so this is a very good place to start. If you buy direct from classic moped spares and buy a spark plug, coil and ht lead then the shipping will combine based on the weight, which can also say you money when you order many items together.
Spark plugs, condensers, contact points, magnetos, and many other part are now available from Classic Moped Spares and more coming soon!

Top Gear is coming back and Classic Mopeds are coming out of lower gear!

Classic Moped Spares help needed!

Yesterday they announced that Chris Evans was going to be the new head presenter at Top Gear. There were many mixed comments on twitter, facebook and the news. I even tweeted myself 'Congratulations to Chris Evans, dont c*ck it up!' James May and Richard Hammond recently sold some of their mopeds including Yamaha FS1E at auction (7K I believe!) but maybe now Chris has joined the top rank he will want to pick up a moped himself if he hasn't already got one hiding behind the Ferrari! Well I wish him well, he's had his ups and downs

I am now sat in a room full of more moped parts, and would appreciate any help to get things done and clear the mountains of stock. I can't afford the wages of Jezzer, Hammond or May, but if anyone knows of someone who has an interest in Mopeds and perhaps can help out then please let me know.

Many items are now back in stock and more arriving so please do message me if you need something:-

Raleigh RM12 Super 50 Moped For Restoration and Sale

Raleigh RM12 Super 50 For Restoration for Sale

I just bought this Raleigh RM12 Super 50 Moped for restoration:-

The Raleigh Rm12 Super 50 was the last moped model to be made by Raleigh Uk. It was introduced in 1965 as the the "Super 50". It features the automatic variable-gear transmission, the high performance (9 to 1 compression ratio) engine of the RM5 and a further change in styling with dropped handlebars and a windscreen to suit the semi-prone position. Basically it is similar to the RM5, but a single-seater and slightly improved performance.

The bike originally cost £87.19.6 including purchase tax when it was launched. Raleigh claimed it was styled for the younger rider having the mechanical specification of the Raleigh RM11, but incorporating a long saddle so the rider can lay prone to reduce wind resistance. The manufacturers claimed top speed was 45mph, quite impressive for its day.

The model purchased is a long way from looking like:-

So what to do with it?

I would like to restore the bike and then sell it through www.classicmopedspares.com or a specialist auction and any profits would then go to charity. I have a specific charity in mind, but do not want to say who it is just yet, until I know what there is sufficient interest to restore it? The restoration may also take quite sometime as there is quite a bit to do and it is important that it is done correctly.

There was a small number of Raleigh RM12's made and even fewer survive like this one with documents in original condition. The Raleigh Super 50 is also one of the most desirable models being the last piece in the puzzle for any Serious Raleigh Moped Collector.

I would love to know what people think of this idea whether you are interested in purchasing a Raleigh RM12 Moped or may have some help or advice. then please do get in contact.
